No, don’t worry I’m not going to tell you to “just relax” or suggest a holiday. What I mean by “letting go” is to let go of anything that you are currently doing that a friend, colleague or family member has suggested in the hope that it will help you become pregnant. They mean well, but is it really what you are meant to be doing? Let me explain.
I was reminded of my fertility journey recently as I watched my 13-month old daughter “sofa surf” around the living room with her protruding pot belly and jelly-like hips. As she clung onto the fabric for dear life, I found myself encouraging her to take the leap of faith. To let go. To take her first unaided steps to believing in herself.
It brought me back to my own fears to becoming a mother. Just like her, I was also afraid to trust my own body and what it was capable of. Instead, I hung on to what the fertility forums, friends, family, therapists, fertility apps, pee sticks, doctors and the IVF clinics told me to do. I did exactly as I was told in the hope that I would become the mother I desperately longed to be.
But it wasn’t until I heard Sue Dumais on a fertility telesummit say “Listen to your heart. What does it want you to do?” that something in me switched. I suddenly realized I wasn’t meant to be doing what everyone else suggested. I was meant to be doing what felt right for me. I stopped everything, and with Sue’s help I learned how to tune into my own internal navigation system – my heart.
This intuitive space knows who you are meant to reach out to. What you are meant to eat. What you are meant to read or listen to. You simply need to ask. But there lies the problem.
The heart is much quieter than our loud, busy minds.
So to receive the guidance I invite you to try this method…
Firstly, remove all distractions. Stop and connect with your breath. Once you have full focus on the breath, imagine taking an elevator down out of the mind and into your heart space.
Once you are in your heart you can tap into your intuition and ask: “What would you have me do now?”
I encourage you also to ask your spirit baby the same question: “What would you like me to do now?”
Babies in spiritual form (spirit babies) are keen to communicate with their future parents but we often forget or don’t think to ask them. By starting to communicate with your baby in spiritual form you create a welcome space within your body, and a softening in your mind.
I do understand that it’s takes a tremendous amount of courage to let go of all the fertility advice that you are bombarded with. We live in a “let’s give it a go” mentality, but this can be wasteful of your energy and money. Therefore I invite you to ask yourself: what could you let go of right now? What doesn’t feel completely right? Are you open to looking elsewhere?
When we say “NO” to something, we are actually saying “YES” to what our heart is really calling for. You may get it wrong and fall over just like my daughter, but I promise someone, or something will help you get back up again.
