I recently came across a youtube video sharing a story about a dog named Max that was able to smell cancer in his owner’s breast. After days of the owner noticing her dog’s odd behaviour, she realized that she had cancer. The dog knew long before the owner had tuned into the knowing deep inside. It was confirmed when she had a surgical biopsy come back positive for cancer.
The video goes on to show how they are starting to train and use dogs to detect cancer using urine samples. This lead me to this question, if dogs can detect cancer in humans even before medical tests can prove it why can’t we detect it in our own bodies? Well the truth is, we can!
As an intuitive healer there were several clients where I detected something in their physical body but I didn’t know it was cancer until after they received a diagnosis. Looking back at the first two clients, I experienced a similar feeling when I tuned into their energy field. It was a sickly heaviness. You know when you smell a familiar smell? That is what has became for me. I began to be able to detect cancer based on how it made me feel when I tuned in.
In September 2011 I was having several health symptoms. All the tests were coming back normal but I certainly didn’t feel normal. I decided to get quiet and use my gift of intuitive healing to see if I could find some answers. I found stillness and brought my awareness inward.
Suddenly I felt that same feeling deep within my own body. As I brought my awareness deeper into my abdominal area I felt that familiar sickly heaviness. The word cancer popped into my awareness and a wave of fear filled my entire body. I knew without a shadow of doubt that I had cancer in my body. That began a journey of healing that would change everything. I am not guided to go into all the details here. What I would like to do is share some insight that can potentially save your life. Our bodies speak to us constantly. When we listen deeply and bring our full attention to our body we can receive messages. The same way a dog is highly aware and attentive to their owner, we can gain precious insight and information about our health by practicing mindfulness.
Here are some steps you can take immediately to help you look inward and hear what your body is trying to tell you.
1. Listen to your body ~ the symptoms and signals we experience daily are the body’s way of pointing to disharmony. If you numb it out the symptoms or ignore them, you are missing key valuable sign posts that will lead you to the awareness you need to heal or prevent dis-ease.
2. Breathe ~ deep breathing in and out of the nose while keep the throat soft can turn off your stress response and turn on your rest and restore response in your body. Our body can heal when we are in that restorative state. Most people are in a state of constant survival with stress hormones pumping through their body. Stop and take 10 deep breaths while telling your body “All is well. I am safe.” This also helps quiet your mind so you can listen to the body easier.
3. Trust your intuition ~ your body innately wants to heal and come back into a state of harmony. When you follow your heart and trust your intuition you will discover your unique recipe back to vibrant health, the same way I did. There is no one recipe fits all when it comes to healing. The good news your unique recipe is pre-programmed in your heart and all you need to do is follow the signposts.
