Childhood dreams are often a glimpse of what is to come into our lives. Our dreams are like seeds planted deeply into our heart. When they are in alignment with our heart desires it is just a matter of when they are arrive on our path. Dreams instill hope, inspiration and anticipation of the life that lies before us.
The challenge is to stay fully present in each moment and follow the breadcrumbs that lead us to all the dreams that are meant to be fulfilled in our lifetime. The most important piece is to hold your vision or dream without attachment. That is where the guiding principle “Be Attached to Nothing” from my new book “Heart Led Living ~ When Hard Work Becomes Heart Work” comes into practice.
When I was a little girl I dreamed of owning a farm one day and having horses, goats and lots of animals. I would draw pictures of my farm with a stream flowing through it and animals all around me. About 3 1/2 years ago that dream came to fruition after a series of miracles including manifesting $500,000 within 6 months. While I am not guided to go into that story here, you can read about all the miracles in my new book “Heart Led Living ~ When Hard Work Becomes Heart Work”.
For the last few years I have lived my childhood dream and felt deep joy and appreciation in my heart. Being surrounded by a forest of trees, a fish bearing stream and all my animals played a vital role in my ability to heal from cancer and align with my heart’s path.
In the spring I started to feel a sense of heaviness and resistance to all the chores of running a farm. The joy began to fade when I was out with my animals. It wasn’t until I got thrown from a horse and landed on my back that I realized I was missing a signpost. I was so busy trying to grow my dream of having a farm that I didn’t realize my dream had begun to evolve.
There comes a time that all dreams will either come to fruition, evolve or dissolve. So how do you know when you are to continue to follow the path toward a dream or to let it go? How do you know when you are meant to change directions? You follow your heart. It sounds simple but it is not always easy.
When I tuned into my heart’s guidance I started to see letting go of the farm.
“Are you kidding me. I worked my entire life to fulfill this dream and NOW you want me to let it go?”
I was resistant because I was attached. This dream represented my success. This dream was tied to my joy, peace and fulfillment. Only it wasn’t feeling so exciting anymore. It began to feel like work. It had shifted from “heart work” to hard work. It took me weeks to unwind my attachment to the farm, my animals and all that it represented in my life.
When we are attached to something or someone we are and holding on from a place of fear. We are afraid of losing something or someone and it becomes even more painful because we are coming from a place of fear not love. This fear leads to holding on much longer then we are meant to. For example many people stay at jobs longer then they are guided to or stay in relationships long after they know if their heart they are meant to leave.
So how do we let go of something or someone that is no longer serving us? We trust our intuition and follow our heart. The Universe or the Divine Spirit speaks to us through our heart. It leads us in every moment. It is up to us to listen deeply and follow the guidance that comes in moment to moment.
When people ask me “Why are you selling your farm?” I can come up with many stories or reasons but the truth is simple. I am selling the farm because that is what my heart is leading me to do. I am guided to let go of the farm. It has served its purpose and know it is time to release it with love. While it has been a process of letting go for my husband and children as well we have come to realize that there are other dreams on our path to be fulfilled.
“Sometimes we need to let go of what’s in our hands to reach for something new.”
When I let go of the “farm dream” new dreams came pouring in and I felt the resistance and heaviness dissolve and a new expansive energy fill my entire being. I have been given visions of traveling the world with my family and eventually living on a boat with my husband. I feel a deep sense of freedom for me and my family. There is no more feelings of loss only a deep gratitude for the miracles and memories we captured here on our farm. We may one day be guided back to owning a farm but for now all we can do is follow the breadcrumbs and trust the Universe to bring us the dreams that are for our highest good.
Remember all dreams will either come into fruition, evolve or dissolve. The moment you feel resistance (fear, heaviness, doubt, confusion, worry or anxiety etc) that is simply a signal to look within, quiet your mind and listen deeply to your inner guidance. Let go of everything you think you know, be open to anything and attached to nothing. Your heart is ready to lead you in each moment and it will lead you directly to your dreams with divine timing.
